Measurement of Other Electronic Media

JICWEBS recognises the developing impact of electronic media technology beyond the Web. Streamed media, PDA traffic, SMS services and chatroom traffic are all becoming more popular, and hence the demand for regulation and standards is increasing. JICWEBS has responded by developing standards for the measurement of all these platforms.

Auditing

Audits of such traffic offer media owners the ability to have an independent third party verify their statistics, based on the actual total activity recorded.

ABCe (www.abce.org.uk) can carry out audits of Bluetooth, PDA, SMS and chatroom traffic for the UK and Republic of Ireland. Industry-agreed standards form the basis of certification. Only sites that have achieved a successful audit are certified. Currently all audits remain confidential unless the media owner wishes to place the information in the public domain. All published audit data is available on the ABCe website at www.abce.org.uk. ABCe can also deliver audits of databases.
